The weather doesn't appear to cooperating, so I think we should postpone our pot luck picnic. It may not be raining in the morning but everything will be wet, so let's meet and eat at our usual spots: Bushtekka at 9:00 and Donna's at 10:10.

Saturday, May 30

Let’s meet at Maplelawn gardens for a picnic this week, instead of our usual meeting place.
Location: Keg Manor (Maplelawn), 529 Richmond Road
Parking: At the back
Time: 9:00
Bring: Something for the potluck picnic (something easy!)
There are picnic tables in the garden where we will eat after our walk/run.
If the weather looks uncertain, please check the blog on Saturday morning to make sure the picnic is still on. I will post a confirmation by 8 am on Saturday.

Saturday, May 23: CANCELLED
Based on all the replies I received, I've decided to 'officially' cancel Saturday morning walk/run this week.
It sure is a busy weekend for everyone, so go out and enjoy yourselves, whether at Chelsea, participating in the Great Glebe Garage sale, or anything else you may be up to.
We'll be back to normal next weekend.
Jennifer
PS - Hi to everyone from Chris in Peggy's Cove!

Friday, May 15
Saturday, May 16
NOTE ... The picnic that was planned for Karen's this Saturday, will have to be cancelled. But all is not lost, as we have Donna's to fall back on! :)
We may have weather challenges this week, but stay tuned, as our weather can change a any moment! My prediction is that we'll be ok for our walk / run on Saturday morning.
So, we'll meet at Bushtukah by 9:00am and head out. There will be walkers & runners, so something for everyone! We'll meet at Donna's by 10:15 and hopefully can enjoy the patio!!!

About Terry:
Terry is definitely here in spirit. She certainly would not have missed a bicycle maintenance course. When Terry retired from her job as Executive Director of a large Synagogue in Ottawa, she treated herself to a brand new custom-made bike because she planned on doing a lot of biking. Then another opportunity arose. Terry was elected as the Hadassah-WIZO National President.
Hadassah-WIZO is a volunteer organization which funds projects for Children, Healthcare and Women in Israel and Canada. One of the projects is a daycare centre for underprivileged children in Acco, Israel which Terry had recently visited. This centre has now been named the 'Terry Schwarzfeld Ottawa Daycare Centre' and the funds raised at this bicycle maintenance course will go directly to this cause in her memory.
Thank you for your support! J

Singin' in the Rain & Tip-toe through the Tulips - Fri, May 8

We meet at Patterson Creek (Linden Terrace) where there's 2 hours of free, on-street parking.
Under umbrellas, we walk along the Canal to the flower beds at Dow's lake and admire the tulips, perhaps take a few photos and walk back to the cars.
Then we re-park closer to Bank Street and go to Starbucks or Bridgehead for some hot whatever.
Meet at 9:30.
Patterson Creek must be approached from Bank Street. It is one-way toward the canal, so you cannot enter it from the canal. It is mid-way between Pretoria Bridge and The Canal Ritz, right at the location of the lovely arched stone bridge and pond flowing into the canal, across the pond from First Ave School.
Check an Ottawa map for further directions... or link below.
Please let me know if you are coming. Thanks,
Peggy

Saturday May 16
Hi Jennifer
I do not have all the names for the group so I thought perhaps you could send this message out to them.
I was wondering if anyone was interested in having a potluck "lunch/brunch" like we did last year when we went to Maplelawn. I would like to extend an invitation to everyone to have one on Saturday May 16th at my place. I am staying at 540 Courtenay Avenue. This is just a few blocks east of Woodroffe Avenue and we are the fourth house up from Byron. Would be very close for walking on the parkway but would give us a chance to do a different area on it. We could meet here, do our run/walk, and then come back and eat. Big enough back yard if the weather is nice - otherwise we can be inside.
I realize that that is the long weekend but unfortunately it is the only one I can offer. If you are interested and think you would be able to attend can you please e-mail me at
